Installation and functioning of parts


Pneumatic valve
As an alternative to the compressor you can also use the compressed-air system of the crop chopper. In that case we supply a pneumatic valve instead of the compressor which assures the proper functioning of the braking system.

Nozzle
The silage additive concentrate is sprayed from the outlet of the nozzle under constant pressure. The nozzle fixture should be installed in such a way that the stream from the nozzle in the crop chopper´s inlet hits the silage in flow direction (e.g. at the opening for maintenance). In this way silage additive is not wasted.

 

Pick-up-sensor (optionally available)
If the crop chopper already has a pick-up sensor, it can be used in combination with the supplied relay of Vario K (1.). Otherwise a retrofittable pick-up sensor can be provided. The pick-up sensor regulates the automatic on/off-switch of Vario K. It operates via a sensory magnet which is mounted to the pick-up with a flat bar. The pick-up sensor is connected to the dosing equipment by flat contact plugs (2.) and is protected against reverse polarity (3.). Power is supplied via the 12-V-on-board power system resp. via a 12-V-d.c.source. A fuse protects it against overcharge.

Compressor
The compressor provides a constant and equal pressure at the nozzle. Obstruction of the filter is prevented by two small holes underneath the filter casing. Filter pads can be easily exchanged if required. The compressor should be installed outside the cabine because of noise development.
If the on-board compressed-air system is used we can alternatively supply a magnet switch.

Pump unit
The pump unit (pump and tank with silage additive solution), is easily removed and installed from one crop chopper onto another as it is equipped with a handy handle bar. The pump unit should be placed in the cabine. Next to a quick monitoring of the unit it also ensures good climatic conditions for the lactic acid bacteria in the silage additive. The pump unit is connected to the on-board power system in the cabine with the prepared plug-in connections. The pump (1.) is protected against outside influences by the stainless steel casing and is very robust. With the aid of the air-vent screw (3.) flow blockages can be resolved at any time: loosen screw until the solution comes out of the hose (4.), then thighten screw immediately.

Please note: guarantee expires at once at the opening of the casing!

The filter (5.) can be easily cleaned with warm water after unscrewing and removing the filter. When replacing the filter be careful to avoid the sealing ring from shifting.

Display
The flow rate can be set from 0,055 l/h to 6,34 l/h with the arrow keys on the digital display. At any kind of drop in pressure (e.g. due to hose blockages, failures or because the tank is empty) the error message „ERROR“ is shown on the display and the lamp turns from green to red. This way an incorrect dosage quantity can be detected and resolved immediately. All settings can be adjusted to zero or deleted by switching off for a short time.

To simplify handling the menu has been reduced to the basic functions. To asses the total consumption during operation just press the menu key. To delet this value keep the menu key pressed.

5-litre tank

The silage additive can be mixed and shaken directly in the UV-resistant tank. Fix the tank with the lashing strap on the carrier in tilted position, so that even the solution at the bottom of the tank can be suctioned and used up completely.

 

 

Installation and starting up
Install the compressor on the outside of the cabine and the nozzle-fixture at the inlet of the crop chopper´s maintenance opening. Replace the tank cap with the other blue cap with the connected intake hose and screw it on the 5-litre tank. Fix the tank on the pump unit carrier in tilted position with the lashing strap. Connect the plugs to a 12-V-power source and switch on the pump unit. Set the flow rate with the arrow keys. To exhaust the air from the equipment, loosen the air-vent screw and keep the start/stop-button pressed until the solution comes out of the transparent hose at the back (bottom) of the unit. Only loosen the air-vent screw, do not unscrew it.
The required flow rate can be regulated in a test run with water. Install the pump unit in the crop chopper´s cabine.

 

Cleaning
The dosing equipment should be cleaned after every application. Particularly at the end of the silage season, it should be cleaned thoroughly in order to remove deposits and to prevent any blockages. To rinse nozzle and hose, fill the tank with water and cleaning agent and set the quick-run mode with the highest dosage quantity. Hoses, pump unit and nozzle can be cleaned without any problems with a cleaner for milking machines in the adequate dilution. The opening of the tank is extra big to make cleaning on the inside easier.

Independent dosing
The dosing equipment can be used with any silage additive. However it is calibrated by the manufacturer to the silage additives of Joachim Behrens Scheessel with a ratio of 1g silage additive to 10 ml water. It could be that silage additives or inoculants of other manufacturers contain a different carrier and show a different viscosity. It is advisable to calibrate the equipment anew after changing to another silage additive. The manufacturer can carry out a resetting of the equipment on request. For requests, questions or any other technical problems please call the manufacturer´s service hotline.

The telephone number of the service hotline is printed on the sticker on the pump unit´s casing. Should you have any problems with the German language, you can always call Joachim Behrens Scheessel directly. We are happy to be of help. If technical problems can not be solved via service hotline, the pump unit can be replaced within 24 hours (within Germany).

 

Dosage recommendation of Biomax® 5 and jbs pentolac®
Dissolve 100 g silage additive in 1 litre of water using a whisk or shaker cup (with sieve). Pour the solution in the tank when it is completely solved. A tankful (5 litres) is enough for 500 tonnes of silage. The solution can be used immediately and should be applied within 48 hours.
