Natural materials for healthy animals

jbs bedding additives consist of minerals and sediments which are obtained from natural resources, then processed. The physical properties of these mineral resources ensure the secure binding of water, ammonia and toxines - in the stable as well as in the animals‘ digestive tract (in case the bedding additives are swallowed all but accidentally; the ingredients are approved by feed law).

Practical implications in the barn

Ammonia is highly cytotoxic. Thus, reduction of ammonia is very important.
Even small improvements - such as improving feed recovery from 1:3 to 1:2,9 in hog feeding or reducing losses in poultry farming by 0.7 percentage points - covers the costs for the bedding additive many times over.
In addition, cows show oestrus more distinctly and attend the feeding table more often, if the ground is not slippery. Feed intake, milk yield and the success of insemination increase. As for poultry farming, bigger particles support natural pecking and scratching behaviour, thus reducing stress. Piglets dry faster after birth, if they are powdered with a bedding additive.

Benefits beyond the stable

jbs bedding additives reduce odour nuisance not only in the stable itself, but also close to the stables and during slurry application. They even keep their benefits after the slurry or dung is applied onto the fields – they remain in the soil as minerals and bind further potassic and ammonia ions by exchanging them for calcium ions. Thus, instead of losing valuable potassic and ammonia ions to rain, only calcium ions will be eroded.
The nutrients are kept in the soil and can be accessed for the plants’ growth. The soil is effectively long-term enhanced.
